Often people say , "Be the same outside as what you are inside".I ask , how is this possible ?
Inside you are a vast ocean , an infinite sky .outside you are finite -just a small limited form , a normal stupid (or not so stupid) person !
All that you are , the compassion , the divinity -doesn't show up fully outside .What shows is only a crust of behaviours.
Ask yourself, "Am I really my behavioural patterns ? "Am I really this limited body/mind complex ?" No...you are not the same inside as outside.
Don't mistake the outer crust for who you are inside.
And don't show your infinite lordship outside for divinity is not fully understood .
Let there be some mystery.
(Excerpt : sri Sri Ravishanker's Knowledge form )
Chinese have a saying: "If your heart (inside) is bad, nobody knows. If your mouth is bad, everybody hates you".
ReplyDeleteSo, if you are foul-mouthed, sneering, ego-maniacal, even if you are pure gold inside (which I doubt) people will wanna skin you if you step over the limits.
Most people only judge what's visible or obvious and they only believe what they see or hear.
That is obviously true , Mr.Teh !
ReplyDeleteA nasty person has a nasty mouth...and rarely a heart of gold.(although in the movies you seem to find plenty foul mouthed ugly people who hide a heart of gold !)
People often judge the book by its cover. It makes life easier for them.
Which is why First impressions are damn important.People will judge you for years based on that first impression that you made on them.
I guess , what Sri Sri ravishanker is trying to tell is that , a person is more than Just his actions and reactions (Although he might be judged solely based on his actions and reactions).
A person is often more than the sum of his parts added up , because of the hidden element that we always take time to discover in ourselves.
